Winter solstice at the Eggerhaus 2025

Lanterns, Swedish fire logs, bread from the smoke kitchen and music by the Altmünster mixed choir and the Liachtbratl-Musi.

Christmas tree and fire in front of the Eggerhaus at night

The winter solstice marks the shortest day and longest night of the year and has always stood for the return of the light. We celebrated it at the Eggerhaus on 21 December 2025.

Many visitors brought their own lanterns, adding points of light across the grounds. Swedish fire logs, fire baskets and candles kept everyone warm despite the cold.

Bread baking in the smoke kitchen showed an old craft up close, and a small Christmas market offered regional products. Raclette and Hanni's legendary Pofesen kept everyone fed.

Music came from the Liachtbratl-Musi and the Altmünster mixed choir.
