The ORF Long Night of Museums takes place on Saturday, 3 October 2026. In Upper Austria many cultural venues open from 6 pm to 1 am. The Eggerhaus is open from 6 to 10 pm and shows things that usually stay hidden.
Eggerhaus – museum of rural building and living culture
Moved to its present site from 1995 and extended with further historic buildings, the Eggerhaus – with its regional building parts and original furniture around 300 years old – is an open-air museum of the way of life, building and living culture of the 17th to 19th centuries. Guided tours explain its history, construction and everyday life.
How the Eggerhaus was saved
A film documents the dismantling and faithful rebuilding and honours the many volunteers involved.
The film about the rescue of the Eggerhaus is also online: Dismantling and rebuilding 1995–2003.
